Privacy Policy

The short version

QR codes are decoded on your device. Your camera stream, the images you upload and the text that comes out of them are never transmitted to us, because the scanner has no upload endpoint at all.

What we do not collect

We do not collect scanned content, uploaded images, camera frames, account details, names or postal addresses. We do not ask you to register and we do not build user profiles.

What is processed

Like most websites, our hosting provider writes standard server logs: IP address, browser type, referring page, requested URL and timestamp. These are used for security and troubleshooting and are not linked to any individual.

If you choose to send feedback through the form, the message you type is stored so we can act on it. Attaching the scanned data is optional and switched off by default.

Camera permission

The camera is only requested when you press "Start Camera", and the stream is used solely to look for a code in the current frame. Nothing is recorded, buffered or sent anywhere, and the stream stops as soon as you leave or reload the page.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage for one purpose only: remembering your interface preferences, such as whether the confirmation beep is on. It never contains scanned data and is never sent to a server.

Third parties

Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch them. If analytics or advertising scripts are enabled on this site, those providers may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the CCPA you may request access to, correction of or deletion of any personal data we hold. Since we hold almost none, such a request will usually be limited to feedback messages you have sent us.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
